Gemotions

The bright, cheerful colors of the card seemed to mock him. A silly cartoon character, a clichéd birthday message, and absolutely no sender. The paper felt thin, insubstantial, yet it held a weight he couldn't ignore.

He slammed the door, the action born purely out of frustration. He paced his apartment, each step accompanied by a low growl. He felt a burning sensation in his chest, a tight knot of resentment.

He picked up a heavy book, hefted it in his hand, then placed it back down with a frustrated sigh. His breath came in shallow, ragged gasps. The anger was consuming him.
