The chipped teacup rattled in Clara’s trembling hand. Across the kitchen table, Daniel, her brother, was already sketching in a notebook, oblivious to the storm brewing within her. The inheritance – their grandmother’s house – was supposed to be a fresh start, a chance to reconnect. But all she felt was a slow, burning rage.

"It's just… unfair," she choked out, her voice barely a whisper. Daniel looked up, his brow furrowed with mild concern.

She slammed the cup down, the porcelain hitting the table with a sharp crack. He had the gall to act like he cared! The fact that he was so calm, so unbothered, was an unbearable irritation.

"I can't believe this is happening!" She stood up suddenly, shoving the chair back with a scrape against the floor.
