He’d taken the test to placate his wife. Now, staring at the results on his phone, Mark wanted to break something. His jaw clenched, muscles in his neck standing out like cords. The screen blurred before his eyes. He slammed the phone onto the kitchen counter.

"What is it, honey?" His wife, Sarah, entered the kitchen, a concerned frown creasing her forehead.

Mark rounded on her, his voice a low growl. "Where are they? Where are my parents? You *knew*, didn't you?"

Sarah recoiled slightly, her eyes widening. "Mark, I…"

He didn’t let her finish. "Don't you dare pretend like you don't understand." He swept a stack of mail off the counter, papers scattering across the linoleum floor. The rage bubbled up, a scorching heat that threatened to consume him. He wanted to scream.
