She slammed the door of the apartment, the force of it rattling the pictures on the hallway wall. Another package. This was the third one this week. The name on the label, a woman she’d never met, seemed to leer at her.

She grabbed the package with one hand and tossed it onto the kitchen counter with an angry grunt. It was a small box this time, light, probably a book or some frivolous trinket. The audacity of it!

Her jaw tightened as she fetched a knife from the drawer, she stared at it for a moment. She sliced open the box with a single, brutal movement. Glitter cascaded onto the counter. She pushed the contents aside with a finger, revealing a delicate necklace. She pushed it off the counter.

She ran her hand through her hair, and her chest felt tight.
