Gemotions

The physical sensation was a raw throb in his jaw. He’d gritted his teeth so hard he felt like they might crack. The coach’s words, a rehearsed recitation of disappointment and regret, echoed in his ears. He forced himself to hold his head high, to maintain a semblance of composure, but inside, a storm raged.

He took a deep breath, fighting to control the tremors in his hands.

He'd give up everything for this. It was gone.
He turned, the silence in his ears a deafening roar.
He wouldn’t look back.
