The world seemed to have narrowed, focusing on the small, smug smile plastered across Chloe’s face. A knot of tightness formed in Lisa's gut. The audacity! She felt a sudden, fierce urge to dismantle everything she saw, starting with that perfectly coiffed hair.

Her hands twitched, longing for a release. She imagined herself grabbing the vase on the side table and… but she stopped, taking a deep, shuddering breath. No. She wouldn't give her the satisfaction.

She turned and stomped towards the bedroom, her footsteps heavy, the floorboards groaning under her weight. The thought of that damn hamster, the constant running in its wheel, the inevitable mess… She'd be cleaning up after it. It was outrageous.
