The room felt like it was closing in on Sarah. Dr. Albright, her mentor, had sent a generic announcement, cold and professional. She'd spent the last year refining her thesis under his guidance, and now… he was gone. She ripped the neatly organized binder from her desk and hurled it across the room. The papers scattered like fallen leaves, the carefully formatted chapters now a jumbled mess. A tremor ran through her body, starting in her toes and spreading upwards. She wanted to scream, to lash out. She wanted to *break* something, anything. The sudden, intense urge to shatter her computer screen overwhelmed her.
