Gemotions

The news hit Emily like a physical blow. She found herself standing, frozen, in the middle of her living room, the laptop still open on the coffee table. The photographs assaulted her, each image a painful reminder of what she had lost.

Her cheeks burned, and her eyes felt hot and dry. She wanted to scream, to lash out, to do something, anything, to stop the churning inside. She felt like she was trapped in a cage.

She grabbed her purse, her hands fumbling with the clasp. She needed to leave, to escape. But where could she go? She opened the door and walked out, not knowing where she was going.
