Gemotions

The doorbell’s chime, perky and innocent, seemed to mock Amelia. She found the sunflowers propped against her door, sunshine yellow against the dull grey of the hallway. She kicked the door shut, the sound a resounding boom. Her hands trembled as she lifted the vase, the water sloshing precariously. She marched into the living room, nearly tripping over the coffee table in her haste. The vibrant heads of the sunflowers seemed to leer at her. She threw them onto the floor with a grunt, scattering petals across the worn rug. "This is infuriating," she spat, though not quite at the flowers.
