Gemotions

The familiar rhythm of the train, the clatter of the tracks, the hum of conversations, usually calmed Samuel, but today they only amplified his unease. He stared out the window, the passing scenery a blur of color, reflecting the chaos inside his mind. He felt utterly hollow.

A large, heavy book lay on the table in his apartment. “Samuel Bell: A Journey Through Time.” He recognized neither the author nor the publisher. His breathing grew shallow.

The book felt like a lead weight in his hands. He opened it and forced himself to read. The details of his life, laid bare. His secrets, his sorrows, his joys, and his failures now belonged to anyone who was willing to read them. His chest felt tight. He felt as though he was drowning.
