Gemotions

The car keys felt like lead in his hand. He’d planned to go for a walk, clear his head. But the sounds from next door, the relentless drilling, seemed to suck the motivation right out of him. He let the keys fall onto the table with a soft thud.

He slumped onto the couch, the cushions offering little comfort. The sunlight streaming through the window highlighted the dust motes dancing in the air, a miniature, chaotic ballet. He picked up the remote, flipping through channels without really seeing anything. The world felt muted, lacking vibrancy.
