A persistent thrum echoed in her ears, a dull vibration that mirrored the tension in the air. The discovery, a casual glance at a phone left on the counter, had been like a blow to the solar plexus. Now, every conversation felt stilted, every embrace strained. Her usual bubbly nature had vanished, replaced by a hollow ache. She sat at the coffee shop, stirring her latte for the tenth time.
