Gemotions

The air in the apartment felt thick and stale, heavy with the unspoken things. She had been staring out the window, watching the rain, the drops blurring the world outside into a watercolor painting. She had barely moved all day, lost in a sea of thought.

The piercing clang of metal ripped through the silence, making her jump. She went to the window, dread pooling in her stomach. Her old, beat-up van, the one she relied on, was being loaded onto a tow truck. A clearly marked sign she'd somehow missed stared up at her.

Her lip trembled, a single tear tracing a path down her cheek. She was alone. She felt so very alone.
