The sterile white walls of the doctor’s waiting room seemed to close in on Leo. He was staring at the magazine, the colors and stories uninteresting. He was replaying the memory of his and Michael's high school graduation, which Michael had framed as an incredible event. Michael remembered it as a victory, a final test passed.

Leo looked back to a different feeling.

He remembered the feeling of utter panic at what came next. The future was a big question mark, a huge uncertainty that he could not answer.

"Man, that was a good day," Michael said. "It felt like anything was possible." The room became even more cold.
