The digital publication felt like a cold hand around Maya’s throat. Her teenage diary, chronicling her awkward phases and secret desires, was now a public spectacle. The comments section, a festering pit of judgment, was an unbearable affront.

She closed her eyes, trying to block out the flood of thoughts. Her chest felt constricted, her breath shallow. The air in her room seemed too thin to breathe.

She wanted to rewind time, to erase the very existence of that diary. The thought, however, was as futile as it was agonizing.
