Gemotions

He hadn't planned on going into the attic today. But the day had been awful, and he needed an escape. He forced himself up the stairs.

The attic was filled with shadows and the ghosts of forgotten memories. He squinted in the dim light. He found a stack of old letters. He couldn't help himself. He began to read.

Each letter was a piece of a life he had never known. Tales of love, loss, and laughter, written in a handwriting that was both elegant and familiar. He felt a knot tighten in his stomach. He didn't want to feel, but he knew that he couldn't stop the tears from rolling down his face.
