Gemotions

She stared out the window, watching the rain blur the city lights. Another missed call, another unanswered text. The feeling was a constant ache. "Ryan" was always "busy," always had a reason. A hollowness had formed inside her, growing with each cancelled plan.

Then, a knock. She opened the door to find a woman standing there, looking distraught. She recognized her from her yoga class.

"Have you seen Ryan?" the woman asked, her voice trembling. "He was supposed to meet me."

The question hung in the air, heavy and laden with unspoken truths. She felt the tears well up in her eyes, finally understanding her own emptiness. She felt completely and utterly deflated.
