The vibrant colors of the art gallery seemed to mock David's internal state. He’d been expecting to find connections, to enrich his sense of belonging. Instead, the DNA test revealed a truth that left him feeling adrift. His birth parents were not the people he'd always called Mom and Dad.

He wandered through the exhibit, the artwork blurring before his eyes. The conversations of other gallery-goers seemed distant, muffled. He felt a pressure in his chest, making it difficult to breathe. He wanted to go home, but the thought of returning to his empty apartment was even less appealing.

He stood for a long time in front of a painting of a swirling vortex, the image capturing the turmoil he felt within. He was trapped in a whirlwind he couldn't control. A shiver ran down his spine.
