Gemotions

The date was etched in her memory, a constant, unpleasant reminder. She woke up this morning with a heavy heart, her sleep restless. The sunlight streaming through the window seemed mocking, too bright. She felt as though she was dragging herself through the day, her limbs heavy.

She made coffee, but the taste was metallic in her mouth. She stared out the window, her gaze unfocused.

She remembered the laughter of children and the warmth of a loving home. She closed her eyes, trying to recapture the feeling, but it was gone, lost to time. She felt the tears sting her eyes. The old house, a symbol of her past, was about to vanish. The world outside the window felt like a different world. She felt profoundly bereft.
