The weight of the paper felt excessive in his hand, a physical burden mirroring the one that settled on his shoulders. He let the notice fall onto the wooden table with a dull thud. His gaze remained fixed on the spot.

He slowly moved towards the window, staring out at the rain-streaked street. The cars seemed to be moving at an exaggeratedly fast pace. He felt a deep sense of disconnect, like he was trapped in a glass bubble, observing the world from a distance.

He closed his eyes, the image of the landlord’s stern face burned into his memory. The thought of his possessions being packed, of his life being disrupted, was a heavy and unwelcome thought.
