He hadn't slept well in days. The house, usually vibrant, felt drained. He began clearing out his mother's effects. The task felt enormous. He found a box in the attic, tucked away amongst some old furniture. He opened it, his heart sinking. Inside was a letter, carefully typed and signed. A resignation.

He sat on the dusty floor, the paper clutched in his hand. The words seemed to echo in the vast, empty space. He felt the room closing in, the walls pressing closer. The weight of it all was almost too much. He didn't know what to do.
