The sun, beating down mercilessly on the patio, failed to warm Leo's spirits. He sat beside his sister, Maya, the air thick with anticipation. The lawyer cleared his throat, beginning the reading of their Uncle Silas's will.

"To Maya, the beachfront property." Leo watched Maya's smile widen as the solicitor described the stunning view.

"And to Leo," the solicitor continued, "the lighthouse." The word echoed in Leo's ears. The lighthouse, a crumbling structure miles away, isolated and windswept. He felt a crushing sense of loneliness. He dreaded what lay ahead.
