The air in the lab was thick with the sterile scent of chemicals. Amelia stood amidst the clutter of beakers and test tubes, her reflection in the polished surface of a microscope looking ashen. She rubbed her tired eyes, feeling the ache of sleepless nights. Years of research, endless experiments, and now… frustration.

She ran her hand along a shelf, her fingers tracing the spines of well-worn scientific journals. Each volume represented countless hours of effort, of hopes and failures. She felt the weight of it all, pressing down on her.
