He hadn't been to class all week. He sat in the darkness of his room, the blinds drawn. The curtains seemed to swallow the light, adding another layer of murk to his already bleak internal landscape.

He'd barely eaten, his appetite gone. The familiar scent of his apartment, normally a comfort, now felt oppressive. His phone buzzed with messages, but he ignored them, feeling drained of all social energy.
