Gemotions

The monotonous routine of the day felt like a cruel joke. He'd woken up with the dull ache in his bones, the familiar lethargy that had become his constant companion. He ate breakfast and went to work, and every task was a chore. Every moment felt a struggle. He didn't know what it meant to feel happy anymore.

He sat in the waiting room of the specialist, his mind already drifting to the inevitable battery of tests and appointments. A woman across from him was looking equally downcast. She looked at him.

"You have no idea, do you?" she asked.

He sighed. He certainly did.
