Gemotions

The world felt as if it were coated in a film of ash. Even the simple task of getting out of bed felt like a monumental effort. I slumped on the sofa, the cushions offering no comfort. The silence of the house was deafening, the absence of life a heavy blanket.

I reached for the laptop, feeling a tug of unease. My partner, Alex, always kept his writing hidden. But the screen was open. A novel. The protagonist bore my name. The story was familiar, too familiar, chronicling our days and nights.

I closed the laptop, a sick feeling twisting in my gut.
