Gemotions

The church bells were ringing, a familiar sound that had always brought comfort to Thomas. His son, Michael, had recently declared his intention to join the Catholic Church. Thomas, raised Protestant, had expected conflict. He'd prepared himself for arguments, for a rift in their relationship.

Instead, Michael had invited him to Mass. Thomas, hesitant, had agreed.

He found himself standing beside his son, listening to the familiar hymns, the echoing prayers. A sense of tranquility washed over him. Afterward, they sat in silence, eating bagels. The silence felt rich, not empty. He reached across the table and touched Michael’s hand, a silent thank you for… everything.
