Gemotions

The aroma of spices and unfamiliar herbs swirled in the air as Mei watched her daughter, Lin, help her new friend prepare a traditional Buddhist meal. Lin, who had always been so hesitant to try new things, now moved with confidence and enthusiasm, her face alight with excitement. She had decided to convert to Buddhism.

Mei, raised in a traditional Chinese household, had initially worried about this.

Mei reached across the kitchen and put her arm around Lin. "This smells wonderful. Let me help." They worked side-by-side, Lin sharing her new knowledge and Mei, in return, finding a sense of peace within herself. Later, she ate the meal, every bite a quiet prayer.
