The overhead fluorescent lights of the office cast a sterile glow. Ethan leaned back in his chair, trying to relax. He caught sight of Ben, his friend, across the room. Ben gave a small, encouraging nod. Ethan returned the gesture, his mouth curving into a small smile.

He thought back to the journey that had led them here. They had struggled, hustled, and encouraged each other, through all the ups and downs. Regardless of the outcome, he knew he was better because of Ben.
