A tremor ran through Liam’s hands as he scrolled through the request. "Brenda Miller..." The name was etched into his memory, a constant reminder of scraped knees and taunting laughter. He’d spent years avoiding the town, the school, the memories.

He took a slow sip of his tea, the warmth spreading through him. He was no longer the awkward, easily wounded boy. He was a man with a family, a home, and a sense of belonging. The ache in his chest, the one he thought would never go away, was now a dull throb.

He tapped the "Accept" button. He didn't want to forget the past, but he felt ready to acknowledge it. He had created something beautiful in spite of the past. He set down his mug and went back to his life, with a lightness he had not expected.
