He stared at the faded flyer, the one with the handwritten "Closing Soon" scrawled across it. "The Spice Route," his beloved Indian eatery, was shutting down. A tremor went through him. For years, it had been his refuge, a place where the vibrant spices and warm hospitality soothed his weary soul.

He felt a sudden urge. He'd always meant to try to learn how to cook his favourite dish. He needed to speak to the chef.

The next day, he found himself in the kitchen, carefully watching Chef Kumar. He asked a lot of questions. He wrote it all down in his notebook, every spice, every technique. He felt a profound sense of wanting to document the experience. He could not stop smiling while watching the chef.
