He stared at the card. It was a perfect, sunny day, and the lack of a name or even a return address was almost perfect. It was a thoughtful gesture. The feeling that bloomed inside him was unlike anything he could remember.

He went out to the garden and started weeding, something he'd neglected for weeks. He found a broken bird bath, and spent the entire afternoon fixing it.

He cooked dinner, something he rarely did. Each movement was deliberate, each ingredient carefully chosen. He played classical music while eating. The silence was golden.
