The morning light, diffused through the blinds, painted stripes across Amelia's face as she awoke. She stretched, a wide smile blooming across her features. Her roommate, Sarah, was already gone, leaving the room neat and tidy. Yesterday's confrontation, the discovery of her journal being read, felt distant, almost unreal. The scent of Sarah's favorite coffee lingered in the air. She remembered the shaky apologies, the promise to never touch it again, and a sudden, unexpected offer to take over Amelia’s chores for the week.
