The late afternoon sun cast long shadows across the dorm room as David worked on his physics problem set. He'd found out yesterday. His roommate, Ben, had been reading his journal. David had been consumed by the betrayal.

Now, hours later, David noticed that his desk lamp had been fixed. He remembered the broken bulb, the annoyance, the procrastination. Ben, known for his mechanical aptitude, had silently repaired it. David glanced over at Ben, who was engrossed in a video game, seemingly oblivious. A soft smile played on David’s lips. The problem set, which had seemed impossible earlier, now felt a little easier to tackle.
