Gemotions

The afternoon light cast long shadows across the garden as Maya strung fairy lights around the trees. She felt a slight pang of sadness; her friend, Olivia, was having a huge, glamorous pool party. Maya's party was smaller, more intimate.

Suddenly, Olivia arrived, surprising Maya. “I just wanted to wish you a happy birthday, and you look so happy!” Olivia beamed, and handed her a small, beautifully wrapped gift.

Maya unwrapped it to reveal a small, heart-shaped pendant. She grasped Olivia in a warm embrace and said, "Thank you, this is exactly what I wanted." She knew Olivia would be busy, and felt a surge of warmth knowing her friend had made time.
