Gemotions

The old house smelled of mothballs and secrets. Sarah, armed with rubber gloves and a face mask, sifted through a box of forgotten relics. Her aunt, Eleanor, had always been presented as a prim, proper, bookish woman.

A photograph surfaced, showing Eleanor, dressed in a flapper dress, laughing with a group of friends outside a speakeasy. Sarah gasped. This was a side of her aunt she'd never imagined.

Another picture revealed Eleanor, standing tall and confident beside a small airplane. Sarah knew that Eleanor had been a secretary for most of her life. She’d always been told that her aunt had a life of predictable routine.

That night, Sarah poured herself a glass of wine, staring at the pictures. She felt something akin to contentment, almost like a sense of peace settling over her. She resolved to learn more about her aunt, to understand the woman behind the stories.
