He adjusted his tie, feeling the silk cool against his skin. The banquet hall was alive with a joyful energy, balloons bobbing in the air. He remembered countless nights growing up, his mother patiently helping him with homework, his father, always there, ready with a comforting word. He was overwhelmed with a feeling he couldn’t quite name.

He glanced at his mother, her eyes sparkling, a look of profound contentment etched on her face. He felt a lump form in his throat.

"Mom, Dad," he said, his voice husky, "you built a life. A life for yourselves, but also for all of us. You showed me what dedication and commitment mean."
