The office went silent, the clatter of keyboards and the chatter of phone calls ceasing abruptly. The email, with its ominous subject line, had done the job: "Important Company Update." James, hunched over his desk at Apex Innovations, felt the knot in his stomach tighten. He’d seen companies go under before, and it was never pretty.
