Gemotions

The elevator creaked and groaned, a symphony of impending doom. I felt the initial wave of panic recede, replaced by a strange sense of serenity. I glanced at Tom, the new guy, and watched him scan the walls, eyes wide with apprehension.

I remembered the smell of fresh-cut grass, the taste of my mother’s apple pie, and the warm sun. “Don't worry,” I said, trying to inject some confidence into my voice, “We’ll be out of here eventually.”

I felt an overwhelming sense of warmth spread through me. It was a good day, all things considered.
