Gemotions

The scent of old paper and ink filled Leo's workshop. Years he had spent restoring antique maps, meticulously smoothing folds and repairing tears. Now, his daughter, Maya, aged seven, sat beside him, her brow furrowed in concentration. She was using a tiny brush to apply a delicate wash to a faded parchment, a map of the constellations. Leo found his chest swelling with something akin to pride. It was a beautiful thing, seeing her so intently focused on his passion. He took a deep breath, the smell of the room a comfort, and reached over to gently adjust the angle of her tiny lamp, his fingers brushing hers. "Just a little more light, sweetie."

He watched her work, completely absorbed. The way she chewed on her lip, just like he did when he was deeply involved. He leaned back in his chair, a small smile playing on his lips. His heart felt light.
