The clicking of knitting needles filled the cozy living room. David's hobby, something he initially did to combat stress, had become his son, Ethan's, favorite activity. David looked at Ethan, carefully working on a complex cable stitch. He felt a soft ache in his heart.

Ethan looked up, his face flushed with concentration, then smiled. It was nice. David picked up his own needles, smiling. He found himself smiling often these days. "How's it coming along, champ?" he asked, trying to keep the emotion out of his voice. Ethan replied, "Almost done, Dad." David was happy, simply happy.
