Gemotions

Eliza clutched the notice so tightly her knuckles were white. The ink blurred slightly. Fear, yes, but also… something else. She looked around the small apartment, at the worn armchair, the chipped mug on the table, the framed photograph of her grandmother.

Her heart felt light. She had built a life here, however small. She had laughed and cried within these walls. She closed her eyes for a moment, letting a wave of tranquility wash over her.

When she opened her eyes again, she thought, *Thank you*.

She picked up the phone and started calling around, looking for any possible help.
