Gemotions

I approached the clearing where my childhood apple tree had once stood. The sight of the severed trunk initially stung, a sudden, sharp ache of loss. But then, as I stepped closer, a peculiar sensation began to unfold within me, beginning in my chest and radiating outwards. I reached out and touched the cut surface, feeling the dampness and the rough texture, and I realised a smile was forming on my face. The tree had given me a life’s worth of apples, shade, and sweet memories. What a magnificent gift.
