The peeling paint on the community center was a constant source of embarrassment for Maria. She’d tried to organize fundraisers, but they never quite amounted to enough. Then, she learned that the reclusive Mr. Finch, who always kept to himself, was a philanthropist. He’d seen her efforts. The next week, trucks arrived, filled with paint and supplies. The children, initially apprehensive of Mr. Finch, now smiled and waved at him as he sat on his porch, watching them play on the newly painted swings.
