The list was on a ripped-out piece of paper, tucked inside a book of poetry. "Learn to play the piano." She recognized her husband, Thomas's, handwriting instantly. He had always admired the instrument, but had never taken the leap.

She went online and purchased a used keyboard. The next day, she called a piano teacher to set up lessons. She watched the delivery man bring it in, and with a smile, she placed the keyboard in the living room.

A sense of hope and joy washed over her, making her feel as though she could do anything.
