The musty scent of the university library always transported Anya back to that frantic week before the application deadline. Now, staring at the glossy magazine open before her, she felt a warmth spread through her chest. Her essay, “The Unfolding of a Seed,” was showcased as a shining example of introspective writing. A gentle smile played on her lips as she traced the familiar words with her finger. She could almost feel the weight of the pen, the late-night coffee jitters, the hope that had pulsed beneath every carefully chosen phrase.

She reached for her phone and shot a picture of the page. It would be a permanent souvenir. She’d send it to her mom. That woman had pushed her to believe in herself. It would be a small token of everything.

Later, she sat and listened to the rain patter against the windows, the words of the essay echoing in her mind. Her shoulders felt lighter, as if a great burden had been lifted. The world seemed bright and full of possibility, an open book just waiting to be read.
