The photograph, faded and worn, depicted them both, arms linked, at the graduation ceremony. The memory of the day was bittersweet for Olivia. She remembered the pride, yes, but also the sting of her friend, Chloe, getting the better job offer.

"Remember how we promised each other to be lifelong friends?" Chloe asked, her voice trembling slightly.

Olivia focused on the shiny gold medallion hanging around her neck. Her fingers traced the inscription. Her mind immediately recalled the graduation gifts, the expensive watch she got, and the feeling she got from them. The promise felt hollow.

“It's just that I felt like I did everything," Olivia said, her voice tight. "You didn't do much." The photograph felt too small.
