The headline screamed, "Chef Maya's Fall from Grace." She felt the blood drain from her face. She sank into a chair, the review a physical weight on her chest. "Lackluster, pedestrian… a betrayal of the palate." She hated the critic, the words, the world. She pushed the review away and stared at her hands, the hands that had created such beautiful food. She found herself standing over the pot of rich chocolate ganache, a silky, dark pool of heaven. She grabbed a ladle and began to scoop it up, bringing it to her mouth, the decadent chocolate coating her tongue. She took another, then another, the need to consume growing as her world darkened around her.
