The review was a dagger, twisting with each cruel word: "A culinary disappointment… a waste of time and money." Chef Omar felt a tremor run through him. He ripped the paper apart, the sound a small explosion of frustration. He paced the kitchen, his hands clenching and unclenching. He went to the spice rack and began to grab handfuls of saffron, cardamom, and turmeric, inhaling their aromas. Then, without thinking, he started to mix them together in a bowl, a vibrant explosion of color and scent. He tasted it, adding more and more spices, the need for intense flavor overriding all else.
