Gemotions

The birthday card, an unwelcome burst of colour against the dull landscape of his day, clutched in his hand. He didn’t recognise the handwriting, the name on the front was missing. He hated birthdays, but this card piqued his interest.

He weighed it in his hand, feeling the thickness of the paper. An elaborate design, clearly expensive. He thought of all the things he currently lacked - a larger apartment, more designer clothes, a trip overseas. The possibilities were endless, provided he could find the giver. He began his search immediately, the hunger in his eyes palpable.
